Anti-Human Trafficking Training for the Canadian Casino and Gaming Sector
Toronto, Canada, April 4, 2023 – An online training on human trafficking is now available for Gaming Compliance Specialists working within the Casino and Gaming sector. This new tool will enable compliance officers to recognize ways that human trafficking intersects with the industry and empower them to take actions to make their workplaces less hospitable to trafficking activity.
The Canadian Centre to End Human Trafficking and The Association of Certified Gaming Compliance Specialists have partnered to raise awareness of human trafficking in the Casino and Gaming sector.
“A Gaming sector equipped with the education and knowledge about human trafficking can play a critical role in addressing exploitation in this industry in Canada. Gaming compliance officers able to spot the red flags of human trafficking and money laundering can help this sector to avoid Casino locations being frequented and used by human traffickers,” said Julia Drydyk, Executive Director, The Canadian Centre to End Human Trafficking.
The Centre’s study shows that human traffickers use defined transportation corridors in Canada to exploit and control their victims. Casino locations along the Trans-Canada Highway and other main highway corridors highlight the importance of the Casino and Gaming sector as important allies in the fight against human trafficking.
“We are grateful to the Canadian Centre to End Human Trafficking for developing this critical training for the Casino Gaming sector. Human Trafficking is a devastating crime and casino staff in all roles have an opportunity to combat it. We encourage all Casino Gaming staff, no matter their role, to take this no-cost training, “said Dr Ian Messenger, President of ACGCS.
This training is available, at no cost, online at www.HTRisksCasinoGaming.com
